Did you already have your Al fresco breakfast, lunch and dinner? Hope you used a sunscreen.
Exposure to the ultraviolet light of the sun is important because we need the vitamin D for our bones but UV light can also damage our health. Unprotected exposure to the sun can lead to premature skin ageing and wrinkling, and suppresses our immune system.
But which sunscreen and which SPF…..? SPF 20 provides 95% protection against UV radiation. A higher protection can only be obtained with synthetic chemicals, non-natural ingredients.
A sunscreen should also be nano-free. The UV-absorbing nanoparticles contribute to coral bleaching. They are used in most sunscreens because the micronising metal particles reflect the radiation and these ingredients penetrate your skin while using it on your body and increases the risk of cancer.
Be wary that some ingredients can be disguised as others, like listing the preservative as a ‘fragrance’, and make it look like the product is preservative free. Don’t be fooled!
Stay safe, enjoy the lovely sun and use a natural and FRESH suncreen!
